In the architectural glass sector, the need to handle increasingly large, heavy and delicate glass sheets is constantly growing. In this context, loading and unloading operations represent a particularly critical stage, both from an operational standpoint and in terms of operator safety and ergonomics.
OPERATING SPECIFICATIONS FOR LARGE-FORMAT GLASS
To meet these requirements, Cugher has designed a Tilting Loading/Unloading system dedicated to the manual handling of large-format glass sheets, developing an efficient, robust solution that can be easily integrated into production lines.
The system has been engineered around specific operating parameters, which can be customized according to the customer’s production requirements:
- Maximum glass size: 3000 x 2100 mm
- Minimum glass size: 1000 x 500 mm
- Glass thickness: from 3 to 12 mm
- Maximum glass weight: 204 kg
TILTING SYSTEM STRUCTURE AND OPERATION
The Tilting system consists of a motorized tilting table designed to facilitate manual glass loading and unloading operations. The glass sheet is positioned by the operator onto the inclined support arms, a configuration that enables safer and more ergonomic handling, even when processing large-size glass sheets.
To ensure correct glass positioning, the system integrates adjustable manual supports installed at the base of the Tilting unit. These allow the operator to adapt the support point according to the glass sheet dimensions, making it easier to correctly center the glass on the working surface.
Once positioning has been completed, the operator confirms the cycle via a foot pedal control. The system automatically moves the tilting table from the inclined position to the vertical position, enabling the controlled transfer of the glass sheet onto the rollers of the line conveyor.
To further improve operating ergonomics, the Tilting unit can lower down to 450 mm from floor level, reducing the effort required during large-format glass handling operations.
LINE INTEGRATION AND SAFETY IN GLASS HANDLING
The motorized conveyor of the Tilting system is inverter-controlled, enabling synchronization with the production line and ensuring smooth, continuous glass transfer. Thanks to its configuration, the system can be easily integrated into automatic flat glass handling lines.
The structure, manufactured from powder-coated steel profiles, is designed to ensure high robustness and reliability, even when handling heavy glass sheets. To guarantee operational safety, the system is equipped with photoelectric barriers and dedicated guards, reducing the risk of accidental contact with moving parts.
